Of social politics and following the rules
So I’m improvising every day
I’m pretty sure that they don’t teach these things in school

It’s a complicated song and I don’t know the words
A dozen harmonies that do not form a chord

So I just hum, can you hear a tune?
Is it making any sense?
Can I play a part in my defense?
I’m not worried in the least
The funny part about it is
I think no one has a clue
It’s all just confidence

I took it all to heart
Each time that my mistakes were chastised in that tone
So I withdrew and stood apart
And since then I’ve grown stingy with the seeds of love I’ve sown
